Corner of 3rd and Oak Street

8"x8" | oil on archival panel
I painted this 8" x8" Plein Air last year for the Pacific Northwest Plein Air Event, I was cleaning out my studio and found it! I had never put it online. So here it is!

The corner business is a lingerie store that has been very popular with Plein Air painters, challenged to paint the headless manequin in the window... luckily she was very decently dressed when I painted her. The thing I liked about this view, is the perspective of the buildings going down the street, and the shadow leading into the painting, and the white stripe in the road starting in the shadow and ending in the sun. I also liked the little yellow fire hydrant on the right too.

Mt Hood Plein Air Morning

6"x6" | oil on linen archival panel

The fall colors are spectacular in the Hood River Valley. I got to Yvonne's Farm, about 7:30am to start painting, Yvonne told me it was 37 degrees, I knew it felt cold! It did warm up quickly, and in a couple of hours we were shedding our warm jackets...

Yvonne's Farm in Fall

8"x10" | oil

I did this painting as a demo for my class yesterday morning. I told the class I would only use a limited palette, Titanium White, Cadmium Yellow Lemon, Ultramarine Blue and Permanent Red Light. I am always happy with the color combinations you can get using so little, just 3 colors and white. I got bright yellow greens, beautiful violets, intense dark greens, neutrals, and they all work together. Keep it simple, is always good.
It is a little larger than my normal daily paintings, but I'm still starting it at the same price as the smaller 6"x6" paintings.
