Turquoise Pitcher - sold

One of the students in my oil painting class, brought this beautiful hand thrown pitcher for us to paint. I couldn't resist painting it for the demo. I hope she brings it back to the class in the future.

Water

6"x6" :: oil on panel :: unframed
Here I am, breaking the rules AGAIN...don't put your subject right in the middle of your canvas... I don't know, I think it works. I like the glass in the middle. Perhaps it works because one of the centers of interest is the glow in the shadow off to the side.

Pink Bowl and Green Fiesta Cup

6"x6" :: oil on panel :: unframed
Ok, I'm having fun with these new colors of objects and the challenge to paint them. I love this little (what color is it, pink? salmon? persimmon?) bowl, and all the color combinations that can be made with it. It is a sort of composition challenge before the painting is even started. I dropped the pinterest button, because people were telling me that they clicked on it and it didn't work. I hope blogger puts a pinterest button into the little gadget that has the other social media buttons in the group below, to make it easy for everyone. hello... google, are you listening? : D

Composition of Color - sold

As part of my visual diary of painting idea, I really love experimenting with different color ideas on my small paintings. Today, I am experimenting with reds greens, teals and neutrals, in differing proportions.

This painting was done as a demo for my Thursday class at the Art Center in Hood River, so it is a little more sketchy than most of my paintings.

Oak Trees On The Edge of the Desert

Oaks in the Desert :: 12in x 48in :: kiln dried birch cradled panel
I just love the variety of climate zones we have here in Oregon. To the East we have desert with Oaks and grasses, and to the West, we have waterfalls and a variety of Fir and Evergreen Trees. This painting is of the desert landscape with oaks in the foreground, one of my favorite subjects to paint. I painted this on kiln dried birch panel, with two coats of shellac. It's fun to look at in person, because I left some of the birch showing through the painting. You can view it if you are in the Hood River area, at the Columbia Gorge Family Medical Center.

Northwest By Northwest Gallery, Cannon Beach, OR

10"x10" A Little Port and a LIttle Wine :: Oil on Panel :: framed

8"x8" Three Wines : Oil on Panel :: framed

8"x8" Empty Bottle :: Oil on Panel :: framed

I am very excited to have these 3 paintings in the Northwest By Northwest Gallery, during the Savor Cannon Beach Wine and Culinary Festival in Cannon Beach, Oregon this weekend! The Festival is Mar 8-11. These paintings are larger than my normal "Daily Painting" size, they are 8"x 8" and 10" x 10", plus framing. They have been a kick to paint, I love the challenge of painting transparent glass objects.

If you are in the area, stop by and take a look!

Northwest By Northwest Gallery is located on 232 N. Spruce St., Cannon Beach Oregon.

Cannon Beach is one of the 100 Best Art Towns in America, and Northwest By Northwest is a beautiful gallery, with very friendly long-time owners, Joyce and Bob. If you would like to know more about these paintings or are interested in purchasing any of these 3 paintings call 800 494 0741.
